Does anyone know if the plate that the TomTom one slides over can be purchased seperately??? I want to keep the whole windscreen kit to fit in my daughters car, but I have used this part on a home made vent mount in mine :D Dave |

I think you'd have to buy another complete mount to get the part. there is an 'alternative mount plate' for the TomTom One (details on TomTom's site) which is intended to be used on other mounts but apart from the 'alternative mount kit' there's no indication of which ones it works with. |

Is there a company selling alternative mounts for TomTom products?
I'm after a vent mount for a TomTom ONE, or a product that can be hacked to make one.
Cheers

I took the plate that comes with the windscreen mount, and after carefully removing my centre air vent (Golf Mk3 GTI) found, that by bolting the plate through the "vent" vanes, then clipping the air vent back in, it holds my "One" perfectly, and still allows the vent to work, and is in perfect driver vision. :D I now need another "plate" to do the same to my daughters Mini One!!! Dave. |

Digging up this old thread because I too am after another "plate" or "shoe" (not sure what it's officially called, but the bit that the TT slides onto), as I'm making modified mounts in my 2 cars.
Is it available on its own? I can't believe we have to spend £20 on a whole mounting system to get two bobs worth of plastic! |

That's marketing for you. Same reason they wouldn't sell one black faceplate for a Go, you had to buy three; including a pale blue one and a gold one that were destined for the bin straight away in (I'd guess) 99% of cases.
Having said that, TT did send me just the "shoe" bit for my Go, in an attempt to solve a problem that eventually required a return of the entire unit to solve. But they never asked for the shoe back
So that got used to make my custom mount. |
