I have a 3420 and have seen the 3450 for sale. Aside from the external antenna port, is there any advantage to upgrading the sleeve ?

Also, my ipaq has an SD card slot. I have all of the maps loaded on the CF card in the sleeve. Is there any performance advantage in loading the maps onto an SD card instead ?

thanks,
Bob

uh, these are really old receivers now... not sure if the 3450 had a better chipset.

As for the storage cards: CF is faster, so keep your maps there.

I believe that the SE sleeve (3450 to you) had a better firmware and a military spec. crystal.

Yes, that's what I did.

Tim, did you notice a difference in going to the 3450 from the 3420 ?

It was a long time ago, I have to say. I used the SE sleeve with an external antenna, which made a huge difference, of course. From memory, nothing else really stood out, but I never had to resort to the anti-static bag treatment as used by others with the vanilla sleeve.
