typo in my post I meant to say mine has 30mb ram (7.2 free) |

its most likely because the componants manafactuer like hard disk manfacturers sell them at 32x1000000 bytes when 32 meg is 32x1048576 bytes.
((32000000 / 1024) / 1024) is 30.51.
Same reason your 60GB HDD reports as 55GB |

Its a shame rearlly because ISPs are starting to do it now when calculating data usage but theres nothing the consumer can do because technically kilo is 1000 and mega is 100000 but as pcs dont use base 10 the coloest you get is 1024 hdd manafactuers have milked this for years and now you buy a 300GB hdd to find your missing a nice large chunk when its finally installed. |
