Absolute basics for absolute beginners

I have been trawling through the forums for info on what to do and how to do it to get my i3 in full working order... There is some really useful information thanks everyone. I thought id post a simple intro for people like me not knowing where to start

I now know that:
I need to update my system via pc to add:

1. c320 software update to download uSB drivers vers 2.1 from the garmin website - as my unit had no cd

2. Download the i3 software version 2.40 Sept 16th 05

3. download the pOI loader software version 2.o July 05

4. Add POI

Im not sure how to do number 4 as yet...
Is there anything else I should do???
