Not that I can see, I was hoping someone on here might know how it works.

Would I be correct in saying that once you have planned your route, it calculates your ETA on the type of roads you will be using. If so you could adjust the preferred speeds for these types of roads in properties, advanced, preferred speeds. Surely adjusting these speeds will make a difference in the ETA, because this calculation is done using this information.

Anyone use the ETA feature? Anyone worked out how it works it out. It seems particularly pessimistic to me.

Does it assume 50mph average without taking into consideration the motorways it is telling you to drive on?

I use it all the time and I agree, it does seem pessimistic but maybe that's reasonable on UK motorways! <g>. I do most of my driving in France and Switzerland. Is there a way of changing the speed defaults for the different types of roads?

I used to use the ETA feature quite a lot, but since installing the Smart ST Pro SP1 it's no longer available. Does anybody know how to switch it back on?

Thanks.

Telboy,

It's only available when you have a route set, but if you look at the bottom of the screen, you'll have the 'Distance to next' reading in the bottom right corner, and in the bottom left you'll have another reading. This could be one of a number of things, say Speed, DTG, ETA, etc. Tapping the letters will change that reading and if you tap it enough times it will change to ETA.

I seem to recall seeing on the navtech site that it's maps include max speed settings for roads so i'd guess it probably uses these in the calculation.

I dont think they use the max speed for a road, the ETA is too pessimistic.
