Sad I live in Sheffield in the UK, a City which I do not suspect to be that much different from any other major City in the UK.

I use Navman SmartST v3 on an Ipaq 1945 with a bluetooth 4420 which I only purchased in the past month.

I have been using the GPS software to guide me around Sheffield to areas which I know really well to see how accurate the routing is. I am astounded at how inaccurate it is and I am losing confidence in it rapidly. Additionally I would not like to trust it if I was in a City I did not know.

In the past week it has tried:-
to send me the wrong way up two, one way streets,
tried to make me turn left at a no left turn.
Sent me down a road which has been blocked off since April 1998!!!.
It tried to take me through an underpass which has been shut for several years instead of around the roundabout which replaced it completely a few years ago.

I know that changes to the road network are constantly ongoing but all the above issues have existed for years not weeks. I am also sure that Sheffield is no different to many other locations in the UK in this respect.

I know that one option would be to inform TeleAtlas of these issues but when navigating a busy city centre it isn't always that easy to stop to make a note of the co-ordinates and as I have already said these roads have been like this for a long time. Also I am now coming to the conclusion that I would be constantly in contact with them to try and get the mapping up to date.

I am curious as to 'How old is this mapping data????'

If anyone else has had any similar issues than i should be interested to hear their comments

Not sure about SmartST as I cannot get it loaded on my Mio168, but I know that TomTom 5 isn't much better! My home town name is incorrect, 2 roadnames spelt wrong, 1 one-way street in the wrong direction, and 1 not listed as one-way when it should be!
