Hi All
I'm new to this site so be gentle with me.
I've recently got an IPAQ 6515 that comes with TomTom, well sort of comes with TomTom.
I want to add some POI to TomTom software but I'm having problems doing this. Does anyone know how to do this?
I've check the version on TomTom and it's says it's version 4.5, but when I check the TomTom web site I can't find this version. Does anyone know which version I'm using ??? I've got the funniest feeling that it might be a cut down version that come free with the ipaq !!!!!.
Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers

Fluff,
Sorry I cannot be any help on your particular query but tell me more about the 6515!! I'd seen these being plugged on the HP website but there wasn't enough technical detail on there to make me commit. It appears to be a replacement to the 6340 but without WiFi - is this assumption correct?
Having said that, is the Sat-Nav facility a "HP" version of TT? All info gratefully appreciated...
Thx

Having re-read your note, it might be a version of TT4 that was released with the 1710 iPaq - see earlier sticky...

Hi all...I eventually gave up trying to fight the tomtom site on my own...it was a bit like swimming shark infested waters...I sent a mail to them asking about the ability to download extra maps and also the ability to use "safety cameras"...the response follows...I still cannot use safety cameras but the TomTom software is now much more usable...hope this helps others.
Quote: | When you connect the hw6515 up to a PC using active sync and that desktop/laptop PC has an internet connection then there will be an icon in the hw6515 where you can retrieve a voucher to apply for a discount for the western europe maps. So first you must upgrade the software:
http://www.tomtom.com/updates/ppcupd510.exe
Then connect the Pocket PC to a PC running active sync that has an internet connection. Choose the GPS map and voucher icon shown in the screen shot. The go to this website:
http://www.tomtom.com/products/category.php?ID=1&Language=1
and click BUY NOW next to the item NAVIGATOR 5 - Software & Maps of Western Europe. This item will be added to your shopping cart. Then choose check out. In the final checkout page there is a place to put the voucher code. Then enter the voucher code your hw 6515 gave you.
Installing safety cameras to the city maps does not work. You can only use this on the full GB mainland map. |

Here is more help on the 6515.
http://davesipaq.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=83
(see sticky at tome about GPS apps)
Let me know if you have any other questions, I've used the 6515t with many different GPS programs and think TomTom or Navigon is the best. |

I have been told elsewhere that when you upgrade to 5.1 on this device it is the full working 100% exact same product as a brand new out the box 5 upgraded to 5.1
If this is the case then it should have no problems installing the POI's
However, if you are trying to show the POIs in a city map, that may be a different kettle of fish and someone with more experience would be better answering.
Let me know how you get on as I am gonna buy the 6515 once I get confirmation it works good with the Parrot CK3100 bluetooth car kit. |

I too have a 6515 and have just paid the discounted price to buy the Maps of Europe to go with the version 5.1 of TomTom that the device "comes" with. I can report that the device works well with a Nokia CK-7W car kit in my SAAB.
Have not had chance to test the working of the maps and the phone together. TomTom 5 Mobile on my SPV C500 would occasionally lock the phone up and require me to reboot the phoe to get access to the phone or the radio. _________________ TTN 6 Ipaq HW6910 Liz Whittaker's voice

HAve only road tested the 6515 with the car kit so far. THe maps only turned up today and I have not had chance to go out with it since installing the software so will have to report tomorrow if anything is adrift. |

Nice one. How long did it take the maps to arrive? My 6515 will be here 9th sep so I am working out a sensible time to be up and running with it. |

Tried system today. Yes, the GATSO POI worked fine today as I approached the relevant spot.
Maps ordered on 19/8 and were rcvd yesterday. TomTom seem to wait a week before doing anything.
Very pleased with the system and get a lock in the car no problems and very fast. The GPS Connection Manager is well worth allowing to auto update. It knocks the stuffing out of the latest TomTom Bluetooth receiver for speed to lock.
Have fitted a Brodit holder with cigarette lighter charging cable and again pleased with it but be warned it is very easy (too easy) to over tighten the screw and split the cup of the swivel. _________________ TTN 6 Ipaq HW6910 Liz Whittaker's voice

Which Brodit unit was it? Does it have a built in speaker? |

So the audio off the 6515 is quite loud?
It is pooh on my 4150, but then again I am a bit deaf! Just had tonsils, adenoids, sinuses and nasal area cauterised, and my internal ear canal and ear drum fixed last week. ALL THIS PAIN FOR NO CHANGE! :x |
