Thanks for the potted review - very useful.
Just two questions:
1. When you navigate to a favourite (not a POI) can you order the items into distance ? So if you have added all Tescos into a favourite, can you find the nearest?
2. Is the post code routing still by the outer code and one character? For example EC1M 3 rather than EC1M 3JY? |

I'm pretty sure that's a PDA setting but I use a car charger all the time!

Sorry i meant the backlight, with D3 the light goes out according to the power settings. I was hoping PN would keep the light on so i dont have to adjust the brightness setting before each trip.
Thanks |

To navigate to a fouvourite you need to select the specific item. To answer the question if you set the Home button to point to the Tesco POI (possibly by selecting Tesco petrol stations) then you can anvigate to the nearest member of the POI. I do not think you can navigate to the nearest member of a Favourites category although you can try adding a new POI category with members.
Post code searching is outward plus the digit of inward ie EC1M 3. this appears find for streets with house numbers it is poor for streets with house names.

Display of the screen will be a PDA function. Mine is set to display when on external power and to turn off when on battery power. If the charger is not connected in the car it keeps turning off or going dim.

Can anyone comment on the voice prompts in PN? Have they changed to give more detail when to make a turn; eg do you get a prompt telling you what side of the road to stay on if you have consecutive turns coming up? I have found that with D3 i have missed some turns because i have been on the wrong side of the road after making one turn and then get a prompt to make another. I have seen the demo on OCN's website and it tells you to bear left or right with more than one turn. |

Also have another question and a request; are you able to disable the built-in keyboard and use the ppc one? I'd prefer that since it gives my a proper key layout.
Is it possible for someone to post a link to the manual (if thats allowed)?
ATM im trying to decide what to get, PN or OCN5 (Navigon in Europe) when its released in the US. I like Destinator because of its clear design and it seems to get me where i want to go ok but could still be improved. OCN looks good though looking at the Navigon forums it has its own problems. Anyone used both and can give a comparison?
Last question: has the map data in PN been updated and is it more accurate now?
Thanks to all for replies |

Efjay,
Can you update your profile to at least divulge which country you're based in - although your responses suggest the US.
Within Europe, the www.destinatoreurope.com website details that the map data is Q4 2004, which is pretty recent in my view.
As far as the US version is concerned, I'm not so sure - you might need to post a message on the support forum (I don't have access as I don't have this software).
Enjoy...

My Destinator PN has finally arrived and I have one queston. It is not clear to me, if the destinator software itself can go on memory card, or it has to be in main memory?
The same question is for Text-to-speech engine. When installed on memory card, it was not working properly. |

I saw people saying that you has to return your copy of Destinator 3 to get the upgrade, will any version of D3 be ok. I got Destinator 3 scandinavia.

efjay, some answers:
Voice Prompts. I find that they are reasonable with bear left or bear right before a junction. However when junctions are close together it can issue the bear ... command after the road has started to split. I had this problem in London this weekend.
You can use the pop up PPC keyboard (or presumably an external keyboard) for input.
The maps are stated to be Q4 2004 and appear to be upto date. In general terms they seem the same as Autoroute 2005.
Good luck

Thanks for the update. Can you advise whether your actual speed can be displayed during navigation?
Many thx.

Can confirm you can have your speed (velocity) shown whilst navigating, via the Route details button in the bottom left of the screen. This button can also show ETA, ETR etc _________________ LG G4, Google Nexus 9, Garmin Oregon 600T |

Thx Travisb.
Can you tell me how you enable this? I only had the chance to review an off-line version of PN recently and it only showed the ETA and Distance to go.
Additionally, how visible is it?
Many thx.

The button shows various options in rotation when you press it, as does the one above it. It's very visible, especially in landscape mode. _________________ LG G4, Google Nexus 9, Garmin Oregon 600T |

Travisb,
Apologies - what I meant was how visible is the information? Is it using small typeface or nice large fonts??
Many thx.
