Hi
I have been quite happily using a Dell Axim x3 with Tom Tom 3 on the european roads for a while. I now wanted to use the same PPC on a sailing yacht, also for Europe, but was not sure what software was available to do this ?
I was also interested in comments about wether it would be better to buy instaead a selfcontained GPS like Garmin ?
1) The Garmin displays, particularly the black/ grey tones, tend to have a lot more contrast than a PDA and are more visible in bright operating conditions.
2) If you already own a PDA then 'Memory Map' is an excellent 'moving-map' option for sailing, flying and hiking. Marine maps for UK and europe available. You will need to arange an on-board power source for the PDA!!

Teletype does Street, Aviation and Marine GPS for the PPC, I have used it for a short time, however was having some problems with there tech support and a few issues and have since moved on. The software did work fine when I used it. There may be others, but not sure.
I personally think for the price, its a little too much.
