|
|
I purchased TomTom Nav for Palm with US maps when I was in Boston during March 05.
Then purchased TomTom Navigator Maps of Western Europe when I returned to the UK in early May.
Can you help / confirm the following.
To upgrade I put the Tomtom product code in which will then give me Nav 5 with updated US maps, however my UK maps will then be obsolete.
Nav 5 is being offered to US product holders as a free upgrade, does that therefore mean that the US maps which I have are already compatible with Nav 5?
I am rather confused, I however feel I need to upgrade for the post code navigation option, however feel rather agreived to have to purchase new maps on top of the upgrade cost
Thanks. |

I don't think the USA upgrade program already started, Europe only.
Also I don't see how updating the US maps would make your UK maps then obsolete !? |

Tuurg
Although the upgrade program hasn't started in US there has been a press release (14th May) as follows:
"Upgrade Program
Existing owners of TomTom Navigator 3, TomTom Navigator 2, TomTom Navigator for PalmOne, and the TomTom HP Navigation Packs for the HP iPAQ rz1710 Pocket PC and HP iPAQ hx2110 will be able to download for free the TomTom NAVIGATOR 5 software from the TomTom website (www.tomtom.com) when TomTom NAVIGATOR 5 is available."
I have noted on other posts that suggests previous versions of Maps would not work on Nav 5.
Thanks. |

This is all related to the European upgrade program, not US I believe.
Nav3 and HP packs have never been released in US.
At the moment I don't see any info about the US update/upgrade on Tomtom's website.
And there is a difference between downloading the software (=app) for free and getting the US maps for free. |

yes, however this is what the European site is mentioning:
There is also a €59 upgrade for European customers who own ’Maps of USA and Canada’ to receive the latest NAVIGATOR 5 software and a complete set of ‘Maps of USA and Canada’ on CD-ROM. This includes detailed state map coverage and interstate navigation to all major cities in the USA and Canada.
Not for free then...? |
