Palm m130 and Navman 500 Software Installation Problem

I have just bought the Navman m500 GPS unit to run with my m130 and am having a problem getting the SmartPath Trip and SmartPath City software on to the m130. I follow the instructions and can get one of them on to the m130, but don't have much spare space for both packages and even then I could only put less detailed maps on. Hence, I thought I could put the software on to a card, as I've done with other software, e.g. I have four Bibles and some technical documents that I run from a card. However, when I upload them in line with the instructions and try to open up a package, I get a message saying "No maps installed".
Can anyone help with this problem?
