|
|
I recently had a Mapopolis subscription that let me download all the
Navigator maps I needed for a year. They worked great in my iPAQ. I
also have a eTrex GPS so the natural next step was to order the cable
that marries both units.
The cable works fine but when I tried to use the Mapopolis GPS feature
it reported GPS was not enabled for my maps. The Mapopolis website
clearly said the maps supported GPS and and included voice prompts. My
one tech support request to Mapopolis was not answered and I am
stumped.
Can anyone suggest a solution?
Thanks,
Dave |

I think I know what happened. You may have a Navigator subscription but you probably downloaded the Platinum maps - those do not support active guidance. Go back and download the Navigator maps instead.
If you think this is not the case give me the file name of one of the maps you are trying to use. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the response. I am 99% sure I downloaded the Navigator maps. The file name of the downloaded Florida map set is FLPNC05.zip

Ok, checking on the iPAQ, Lake County's map is LAKEFLPNC. |

There you go. PN stands for Platinum. the map name should be NG as in Navigator - LAKEFLNGC _________________ Lutz

Thanks for your definitive answer. I don't know just how I failed to get Navigator since the Mapopolis descriptions were pretty clear. At least I know what I need to do now. To bad my subscription has expired... |

Not all is lost. You can download the demo maps - they work with GPS for a 9 day period.
If you like that it will make the decision easier to renew your subscription . _________________ Lutz

Right! I plan to give a demo map a try and it should work.
I still wonder how I got the Platinum maps. It seems to me the 1 yr. subscription was only $9.95 which sure is a bargain compared to the regular rate. Is it possible they had some kind of promotion that did not allow download of Navigator maps even if you selected Navigator?
Just a wild guess and it doesn't really matter at this point.
Thanks for clearing up the mystery.
