Just been out and bought the TT One V2 (V4 !)
Thinking of going to Jersey for hols this year so I tried to find it....Hmmm!

You would assume (Well I would anyway!) that a UK and Rep of Ireland map V660.1219 would contain map data for Jersey and it's near neighbours as well as Isle of Man...

I know they like to think of themselves as tax havens but I don't think they, AS YET anyway form part of some seperate republic...

Having bought the unit, which maps for street level mapping should I have gone for instead ??? Confused

Phil

A non-TT device I'm afraid. Jersey is still just a green blob. You would assume that on the latest 675.1409 maps (17th April) it would be there, but it isn't (don't let that stop you from demanding a free map upgrade from Tom Tom to 675.1409 though). Some other brands have Jersey, can't tell you which. Pgpsw has two mobile speed cameras there too - look on the camera submissions page, they are in the sea off the coast near St Helier. Laughing

Jersey is mapped for TomTom products but only the Navteq map has the coverage, for further details see This Thread, there is even a screen capture showing the level of mapping available on the island - Mike

Thanks folks,

looks like I'm a little stuck on this one... Not a lot I can do now I've bought it. I'm sure though that there is no mention on the box about not having the islands which is a bit off of TT. I did actually find a mention of it after I had posted the request for help on here, on their website in the small'ish print...

Yes I will try to get the update Dennis, I understand that you need TOMTOM home installed on the PC. I will stick it on the laptop and take it to work, shouldn't take too long to get off, we have a 20Meg + fibre into the building Laughing (Useful at times)

Thanks again folks,
(looks like at least the Isle of Wight is covered, may be end up there instead Laughing )

Hi Phil-w,

Bo Peep and I are hoping to go to Jersey some time in July for a long weekend break.

As has already been mentioned, Jersey (and the rest of the Channel Islands) has only been mapped by Navteq and not Tele Atlas. As a result we will be taking a TomTom ONE Europe (Navteq maps) and the PocketGPSWorld camera database (which includes a few mobile sites in Jersey).

Could you return your ONE and exchange it for the Europe version?

By the way, here's our report about using CoPilot 5 in Jersey, as CoPilot also uses Navteq maps.

Regards,

Yeah, we all know they're not in the sea, but only Privateer and Bo Peep are lucky enough to have a satnav that can show streets and speed cameras in Jersey! Twisted Evil

The rest of us have to take our holidays somewhere else!

Hi RODTROTTER,

Currently only Navteq maps have Jersey, the rest of the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man. Therefore you need a SatNav device that orginally had Navteq maps as I don't think that there are any TomTom updates for Navteq maps at the moment. All of the TomTom map updates are for Tele Atlas maps.

If you want a TomTom unit for use in Jersey, then you are limited to two:
TomTom Rider.
TomTom ONE Europe.

You are more likely to be caught red handed speeding on the island by a real police car,the cameras dotted about on the island are empty except one near St Aubin that has a flash unit(no camera last time I looked)

As for TT One regional - revised retail packing clearly states GB Mainland and Northern Ireland.Woolworths St Helier have been stocking v2 regional for ages, wonder if they realize.............

Hi idiot,

That’s certainly what the locals have been telling us for the last few years.

Are you a local? The last time that Bo Peep and I visited Jersey was in April 2006. During our last visit we saw no fixed cameras and only two sites where mobile (handheld RADAR) speed checks were taken. Both of these mobile sites (MOBILE:26712@30 and MOBILE:26713@40) are on the A2 dual carriageway, west of St Helier.

I’m sure that if people bought them (the TomTom ONE regional units) for use in Jersey or the rest of the Channel Islands, then they would return them as “not fit for purpose” and swap them for the Europe version.
