Despite several pre-sales questions about a PDA cradle, I have been lumbered with a device that does not meet my requirements. Was told about the possibility of returning it, but apparently you pay both P&P and a 15% restock charge. When I emailed them about the advice I had been given pre-sales etc... All I got back was "it did not state this on our website so it's clearly your fault" no other communication has been received despite my protest emails.
At least it was only £20. I learnt my lessons and I will not be dealing with them again. |

It's in the post above :D
They finally responded to my last email with a simple sentance, restating they will charge me 15% restocking fee. They avoided answering any of my previous question.
I have not returned the cradle because of the restocking fee, so I'll probably sell it on for a discounted price (it's fine for what it is, just not what I was looking for).
Oh well, some people had good experiences with them, I did not |

Under the Distance Selling Regulations 2000 consumers have the right to change your mind within 7 days of ordering an item and are entitled to a full refund. You have to pay the return postage. The are a few conditions such as re-saleable and not damaged or marked. Restocking fees in this period are illegal.

I have a feeling that retailers can charge a restocking fee if a blister pack has been broken open for you to look at or use a product. If the product is in it's original wrapping/packaging then you do have 7 days cooling off period where you can have a refund providing you pay return postage.....and if you are sending it back, you may want to think about insuring it with Royal Mail Special Delivery. If it gets lost in the post when returning it, it's down to you and not the retailer. |

Hi,
no packaging has been damaged. I wrote to PDAMODS and mentioned my reasons why I felt the restocking charge was inappropriate. I also mentioned the Distance Selling Regulations, and told them they may want to reconsider. I got a one line email back saying that the charge would apply as it clearly says this on their website.
I'll call the Fair Trading, Trading Standards Departments and see what they say about "restocking fees". All this hassle for £20 (less P&P).
thanks for the assistance folks, I'll let you know how I get on. |

Yes, but it's *your* £20, not theirs! _________________ Tim |

Must say I ordered some stuff from them very, very late on Saturday night (really Sunday morning!) and it all came yesterday, well packed and no issues at all.
I would use them again, but perhaps I was just lucky :| |

still waiting for the trading standards folks to get back to me. They took all the details and said they would be in touch. Might have to chase them up on this |
