|
|
I want to avoid sucker marks on my windscreen advertising the fact that a satnav has been used and seem to remember seeing some kind of 'bean bag' cradle that sat on the dashboard being offered as a viable alternative.
Anyone able to point me to a source (assuming they work).
It's for a TTG 930.

See my review of Arkon mounts here but also consider a Brodit ProClip and either a Brodit or Carcomm Cradle. _________________ Darren Griffin |

The beanbag mat you refer to is not an official one, it's Arkon's as reviewed in the link in my post. Nothing to do with Tomtom.
The other one you link to is OK but doesn't work with some TT's such as the latest ONE's because their mount means it can't clear the rim of the beanbag. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I've got a round smooth plastic "thingy", (like a small coaster) which I have superglued to the dash. The sat-nav mount then connects to that.
Works fine for me.

They're called dash discs and when new they come with a 3M adhesive backing. I use one in our car for the devices under test. _________________ Darren Griffin |

But don't they say 'satnav used in this car'? _________________ Frank |

It's sensible to take precautions but you can take it too far. Criminals target easy pickings. They rarely break in to go hunting. Leave your mount in the window and you will be tempting fate but a dash disc or a Brodit ProClip does not in my experience increase your risk. _________________ Darren Griffin |

So sorry for daring to make some suggestions.
How lovely and welcoming this place is. |

I wasn't attacking you, just correcting an error and pointing out that I had already linked to it.
I did not mean to offend I can assure you. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I use sticky back velcro on my dashboard costing just £1 and it secures the TomTom perfectly and you can remove it easy |

Hi Darren
I don’t want to go off topic but now that I no longer use a sucker on the screen I would like to get rid of the unsightly ring on the screen. Believe me I have tried. There have been times when I have thought I have succeeded but next morning (especially if it’s a misty damp morning) there the ring is in all its splendour. Any suggestions please? _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Use some alcohol or a good substitute is neat Vodka on a tissue to clean the area on the windscreen then a decent glass cleaner over the whole inside of the windscreen - Mike |

Thanks for the advice Mike, but look, did you say use neat Vodka? Heaven forbid. I wouldn’t need a damp cloth to finish the job I have a neighbour named Stradavosky who would come and lick the glass for me. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.
