I have downloaded Home 2.4 and installed it, but am not being offered a map updsate service. Ccould this be because I am only running a TT 510 running version 7.162 and not the later V 8 that is not yet available to me?
You should be offered a 725 Map.
My 910 is also running 7.162 and I was offered the Upgrade Service to 725.
You would only need V8.xx software for a V8 Map. _________________ Richard

Thanks for the reply Oldboy forgot to say I only have United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland v720.1803 this is probably the latest map available at the moment, but still thought with Home 2.4 I would be offered the update service for the year ahead.

The v810 maps have been around for some weeks now so there should be Map Share updates available for your map. If I may guess, I think you're experiencing the same thing as I do after installing Home 2.4 - that MapShare stopped working. .
I have the same problem. New 520g, installed today with home 2.4 and upgraded to navcore 8.10 and 810 uk/gb map.
Everything is working fine except no mapshare. shows 0 items for the map, and no countries available on the country screen.
Also when I plug the device in the mapshare option disappears off the front menu in home, maybe thats normal?
Just updated my 520 and with Mapshare set on 'HIGH' HOME tells me I have 0.8MB 'corrections on device'
OK ive had a reply from Tomtom support, apprently i need to update to the latest version of the maps in order to benefit from this special offer for the latest version of the maps. Makes sense doesnt it???

I am wanting to take advantage of the new "Map Update Service" however when i go into Home and try to update my maps i dont get the expect pop-up offering me this new service. I have updated Home to 2.4. Can you please help me as to what im doing wrong?
Response (???) 26/09/2008 11.52 AM
To use this service, just go to the main menu of TomTom Home, and select "add maps traffic voices etc". You first need to buy the latest map to have this special come into effect. After you buy it, you will receive a notice asking if you wish to be a part of this special.

I thought that I would be eligible for a reduction in the cost of the latest map as my device is only 2 months old? I only get the option of paying full price.

For this promotion to take effect, you would need to buy the latest map for your device (v 7.25, 8.10).
Can someone give me an idea here? This is an offer to upgrade to the latest maps for a reduced rate and then sign up for quarterly updates. But in order to be eligible I need to upgrade to the latest maps? Im sure ive seen other users on this forum not doing this.
Is this another case of Tomtom support not knowing whats going on? I would love to take advantage of this offer, and im also concious of timing as my maps are about 2-3 months old.

Well, praise be, I've at last got the map subscription thing to work.
At last, it went past the page which for the last few days has given the server error and entered the payment page. I then entered my credit card details and it the went to the Bank of Scotland Securecard check page. So I couldn't remember my password as the only place I've ever had to do it was for TomTom, so I tried and got nowhere, tried resetting it and got nowhere, went back and started all over again and got nowhere. It locked me out and then when I got back in I was able to change my password to something else which I have also written down (like last time!!!). And at last it let me do it. Another half an hour out of the rest of my life!! Not impressed when it said the security verification would take about 15 seconds.
Is it just grumpy old me? Or does anyone else feel very annoyed that the download temperature bar advances slowly from left to right, whilst at the same time, the wording next to it says "Estimated time remaining xx.xx which is counting UPWARDS!!!!" _________________ Dennis

I need to warn you all..
This download could take the rest of your life! If you would like to get this update, firstly, you need to check with your work colleagues, when is a good time to take a day off. You then need to send the wife and kids to the mother outlaw or any other place where the download is not happening.
I paid my money, painless, max 5 minutes, well chuffed.
Start download, warned that this is going to take about two hours. Five minutes into it, "ERROR no connection to internet". This will not be a problem. because TomTom always has problems with internet connections. Right? Wrong! So I have paid my money and got no download, so I start it all again, but look it is now asking me to pay again. After getting on to their website and getting the wrong instructions, I was finally able to delete the partially downloaded map folder and start again. Fifteen minutes into it, "ERROR no connection to internet". This time I clicked Update My Go and it started OK, this time telling me it would be only an hour and a half, bingo, cracked it I got to FOUR minutes remaining, then "ERROR no connection to internet". I have just started the pigging thing again and it has got three hours and 32 miniutes to go.

I managed to update my 520 today. Installed Home 2.4, and downloaded new maps, all in about half an hour.
Me too, but then the UK map is about one tenth the size of the W&CE one! _________________ Anita

That's nonsense - I have just purchased the Great Britain & Republic of Ireland from v715 to v810 for £13.90 (cost -75%) inc vat and the Update Service for £27.80 inc vat and installed successfully to my 520.
The 520 was bought in March '08 and the 715 map was over 2 quarters old, but the upgrade went through with no problems at all. Thee minutes to purchase, 11 minutes to download, two minutes installation - all smooth and works great. _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Just stick with it, this is normal and often reported when new maps are released, the server gets hammered and the bandwidth can only supply so much data at a time. Starting the download late at night (before you go to bed is a good idea that has worked for quite a few previously).
Once you have paid for a map it can be downloaded numerous times for upto 12 months, it is annoying when you get to 99% and it crashes but overnight, unattendended and you might find a new map ready before you start breakfast - Mike
