Does anyone know what is wrong with my Quest? I was just uploading a couple of waypoints and a map onto it, as it was transferring the data, the map point software said that it lost the connection. So I went to check my until, now it has the Quest "Transferring Data" screen on and it is locked there. I can't reset it or anything (tried to use the Menu In reset as well), it's froze there.
I'm not too keen on removing the screws and taking the battery out but I've ran out of ideas now.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks. |

Hold ZOOM IN and POWER together to forcibly power it off. That's in the manual... _________________ Robert Elsinga =8- )

You can also do a hard-reset, but be prepared to lose all of your stored data (tracks, waypoints, routes etc..).
The instructions to do this are available on elsinga's very useful and comprehensive FAQ (see the tag-line in his post).. I've had to do this once so far (only had the quest a little over a week!)... |

Thanks for you help, it worked.
Hopefully it doesn't lock up on me again, I am not sure what happened, is this a common thing? |

Check your firmware version. If it is less than 3.50, update. There were some locking problems in earlier versions. _________________ Robert Elsinga =8- )

My Quest has locked up after installing European maps. I tried the power/in technique but still the same.
The screen says "aquiring satellites" but no buttons respond to touch except a "beep" when the rocker button is pressed. I can't find the hard reset on the elsinga site (found everything else though.......v. informative!)
Any help greatly appreciated, I'm off to Europe next week and need this damn thing |

Tried to upload a small uk map from MapSource and it cannot find my Quest when switched on in lockup mode Do you think I should post it back to GPS Warehouse (who aren't answering their phone) or Garmin directly. I'm heading off on Wednesday for a month 8O |

You're welcome. But don't start calling me all at once now. ;)
I think I will add a nice "FAQ: what to do when I panic because my Quest locked up" topic on my site. Probably with another title though. :D _________________ Robert Elsinga =8- )

Since v7 is an update, you first have to install v6. But on my site there is a complete HowTo how to minimize the diskspace and delete v6 afterwards. ;) _________________ Robert Elsinga =8- )
