Dave

Please can you detail the process of updating the CoPilot Smartphone Safety Camera database using the PocketGPSworld database files.

I am likely to do this on a monthly or so basis.

thanks

Will the updates go into the Travel & Transportation -> Safety Camera category or will they go into a custom POI ?

Or is this upto the user to select where to update to ?

If you are updating them you won't be able to overwrite the Travel ones, so your best bet would be when you do the update is to disable warning of these, upload to a custom category and enable warning on these.

The notes for using the Safety Camera database with CoPilot seem very comprehensive but obviously require a lot of effort.
As CP5 comes with a speed camera database which set of POI's is recommended. Which are updated most frequently?

TIA

If you're looking to have an old database then the transport group of POI's have the speed cameras listed. You can update these by downloading on the PC version of CoPilot, exporting the data and re-copying maps and data to storage card. It is unfortunately a lengthy process, one which will hopefully change by the time that CPL6 comes out!

I'm in the middle of trying this at the moment, it has allowed me to delete the Travel ones and add the new ones from the database.

That's new to me. Are you sure they actually deleted ? AFAIK these were read only and couldn't be deleted. You could overwrite and add to the group but couldn't remove cams in this category.

I'll double check that, maybe it's changed and I haven't been told.

The only ones that are being listed show as GATSO or REDLIGHT so I think it worked.

How did you delete the Travel ones?
Thanks.

But that's deleting the custom POIs and not the travel ones. I'm confused. You'd said that you had deleted the Travel POI's?

CoPilot Desktop:

Plot a route to one of the Travel & Transportation Safety Cameras eg. GATSO:1754

Tools, Manage Custom Places - GATSO:1754 is in the list, delete it.

Go back to plotting a route, GATSO:1754 is no longer in the list.

Conclusion: The Travel & Transportation Safety Cameras are a Custom POI.

You mean this part of the instructions?

Extract the ZIP file contents to a directory on your PC

Run CoPilot Live

Click Tools | Manage Custom Places and delete any Cameras you currently have listed here by highlighting the first camera, then pressing SHIFT+END and then clicking the DELETE button, followed by CLOSE.

It's run from the PC app and yes, you should delete any Custom Speed Camera POIs as well as any in the Travel group.
