Tourists will get better directions to Hollywood sign

Garmin has agreed to make adjustments to the way its devices route tourists to the famous Hollywood landmark.

The changes should help guide visitors to viewing areas and away from local neighbourhood streets after Hollywood Hills residents complained about congested roads and lost tour bus drivers.

Drivers will now be guided to the Griffith Observatory or the Hollywood Highland Centre which has a viewing deck.

Google has already implemented a similar change.

That just leaves 10,001 other places to fix.

Turkey's ancient city of Olympos (near Antalya) for a start. After parking at "the site" it was a 3 min walk down a track. Over a river. Along a beach for 5 mins. Around a cliff. And there it was! The coaches etc went another way as per the Arrow road signs.

Plus despite having the latest maps some section of roads that have existed for (say) 5 years were missing so taking me on an unnecessary detour (and messing up my CO2 reduction score... Crying or Very sad )

All good fun though if you can be relaxed about it.

Turkey has only relatively recently embraced Satnav so it's understandable if it's a little behind the curve. They still have concerns about satnav and digital map data, and, given their location and the countries that border them, perhaps they can be forgiven for being a little slow to get all their roads mapped Smile
