Members of a Cambridgeshire Women's Institute (WI) group, who recorded a song to the tune of Jerusalem highlighting traffic concerns, must now be celebrating.

Whether the decision was partly attributable to the song was not reported, but it appears their plea was taken into account as the speed limit along their local section of the A1 through Cambridgeshire will now be reduced from 70mph to 60mph.

A spokesman for the Highways Agency commented: "The new speed limit and average speed cameras will cover the A1 between Buckden, and 300 metres south of Lees Lane, Southoe. This will help to manage traffic flows along the A1 through the villages of Buckden, Diddington and Southoe and address recent safety concerns."

The work is scheduled to be completed by mid 2014.

To help draw attention to their cause, two topless WI members were featured in the video covering their modesty with just a couple of buns each.
