TomTom have secured an agreement with BlackBerry to provide real-time traffic data to the maps app. TomTom announced the agreement today which will also mean BlackBerry 10 users will be able to opt-in to provide anonymous data to enhance the service for all users of TomTom Traffic data.

"Having accurate and up-to-date traffic information integrated in BlackBerry Maps is an important feature for customers, and TomTom is a recognised leader that provides traffic data to many companies in the market,” said Adrian Gould, VP of Handheld Software Product Management at BlackBerry."

The maps app on BlackBerry 10 has had mixed reviews with some bemoaning the loss of Google Maps and describing it as basic and feature lacking whereas CrackBerry say the new maps app "is simply awesome. It works extremely well and, while it doesn't have a ton of features, has just enough to get things done".
