Article by: Darren Griffin

For those of you with an interest in the more technical aspects of GPS this article provides an in-depth walk through the subject of risks that affect GIS services.

We've all read articles predicting trouble ahead for GPS, direct threats from foreign states, vulnerabilities of the technology and banking systems reliant on GPS timing etc etc, indeed we've authored a few on the subject of GPS Jamming and the GPS Y2K bug amongst others.

But this article, written by former U.S. Air Force weapons officers, provides clarity on the actual situation and analyses each specific issue in depth. As ever the truth is in the detail and the good news is the issues may not be as catastrophic as portrayed and much can be done to protect systems.
