A 55 year old Stamford taxi driver has been jailed for three months for lying to police.

Rafqul Islam was caught by speed cameras twice, but claimed on both occasions that another man was driving his cab and this man was on holiday in Bangladesh for six months.

Police were able to identify Islam from the speed camera photos.

Lincoln Crown Court heard him admit two charges of perverting the course of justice alongside two speeding charges.

He was jailed for three months and received six penalty points on his driving licence. He already had nine penalty points.

It was said in his defence that Islam had suffered both mental and physical illness following the loss of his restaurant business and he lied because he feared losing his new livelihood of taxi driving.

If Islam had suffered both mental and physical illness then his licence to drive a taxi should be revoked as clearly he is not fir to carry passengers.

Id rather be riding a Motorcycle but My Subaru Forester SH is pretty good too.
