Speedometer Helps Driver Clock Up 21 Tickets
Article by: rob brady Date: 12 May 2015
A Chinese driver caught speeding 21 times has tried to deny that he was speeding.
Even when shown the speed camera evidence, Chongqing restauranteur Tang Wusi, continued to protest his innocence.
It was only when police checked the speedometer of his car - an imported American Lincoln MKT SUV - that they realised that he had been relying on (or at least he said he was) the much larger mile per hour digits on the dial instead of the required kilometres per hour numbers.
In 18 months, Wusi managed to break the 120k mh speed limit 21 times. On the latest occasion, when he was caught doing 192 kmh, police realised he had 20 outstanding fines.
He was fined 1.6 million yuan (£1,300) and his driving licence revoked.
