Speed cameras may be coming to New York State
Article by: Darren Griffin Date: 20 Jun 2012
Although New York has had red-light and bus lane cameras for some time, they have, until now, escaped the speed camera.
But a bill passing through the state capital, Albany, seeks to change that and if passed will allow any city in New York State with a population of more than 1 million to install fixed speed cameras.
Speeding tickets would only be issued to drivers exceeding the limit by more than 10mph. Fines would be set at $50 with a $100 fine for drivers exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 30 mph.
