According to a Freedom of Information request to Merseyside Police, a "Speed on Green" camera has ticketed 7,000 motorists.

The device is located on the junction of Crosby Road South and Cambridge Road southbound in Sefton. It's caught 7,348 vehicles since it was first deployed in February.

Speed on green cameras form part of an initiative by Merseyside Police to help reduce drivers speeding through changing traffic lights.

They are also able to detect those breaking the speed limit as they pass through, regardless of whether the lights are green or red.

It would interesting to see the breakdown of speeding vs red light vs combined.

My guess is that red light only offences will predominate.
