Speed Cameras Snap Southampton Biker 15 Times

Southampton biker Dean Stockwell was fined £180 and banned for a year after speed cameras recorded him over a period of two months speeding past them on 15 separate occasions. He must also take a test before he gets his licence back.

Stockwell was able to evade conviction the first 14 times as the cameras were only able to record images of the front of his bike - bikes are not required to have front number plates. This of course makes identification of the driver difficult.

Across the 2 months, he was found to be travelling between 40mph and 55mph in 30mph zones.

What he didn't reckon on was that local police were on the look out for him. Eventually police officers in a mobile speed camera van were able to identify him by what he was wearing and his bike's features.

Yes - he was also in The Langoliers - probably the best book-to-tv adaptation I've read/seen :D
