Two fixed speed cameras sites in Barnsley have been scrapped. The decision has been based on the site's speed profiles and casualty history.
The cameras on Rotherham Road at Cundy Cross and Wombwell Lane, Stairfoot, have been decommissioned as part of a South Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership review as to speed camera effectiveness in the area.
The review, which began over a year ago, is also considering which wet-film cameras should be upgraded to always-on digital technology.
Using digital cameras means that it is not necessary to change the film, a process that often leads to large gaps in operation in the wet-film models.
