Two sets of average speed cameras have been activated in Coventry.

There have been no live cameras in the city since all the fixed cameras were decommissioned in 2013 in a bid to save cash.

The cameras are on London Road covering the stretch from Allard Way to the A46, and Ansty Road covering from Dane Road to Clifford Bridge Road.

The point-to-point system was put forward by Coventry City Council, but West Midlands Police will operate and enforce it.

Pairs of cameras monitor each stretch of road and the first of the pair spot your number plate and start a timer.

The second camera spots your number plate again when you complete that stretch and makes a calculation.

It measures your average speed over the stretch and then compares it to the allowed speed.
