Speed camera operators in Ireland are due to go on strike over the three day bank holiday weekend - 26th- 28 October

They are complaining about their working conditions and their boss's refusal to engage with union representatives from SIPTU (Services Industrial Professional and Technical Union).

The camera operators work up to 11 hour shifts, but they have no toilet facilities - in certain circumstances, they also have restrictions on leaving their vehicle for safety reasons.

The strike will be followed by a refusal to activate their vans’ tracking systems which monitor their activity and movements.

A spokesman for SIPTU said: "They [the workers] are trying to minimise the impact to road safety while at the same time pressurising the company into engaging with them".

The operators also went on strike for one day last month.
