Nearly 200 speeding drivers have been ticketed in just two days within a new 40mph stretch of roadworks

Mobile speed cameras were set up between on the A52 in Derbyshire to protect the workforce who are widening the road and repairing barriers.

A spokesman for Derbyshire's Casualty Reduction Enforcement Support Team, commented: "We find it more than a little worrying that even after we have told everyone that we will be enforcing on the A52, we still caught 114 people in two hours and 57 minutes, several of them over 70mph.

He added: "The speed limit is there to protect all road users: drivers, passengers and workforce. We will continue to enforce here on different days, at different times, until hopefully the number that we catch is zero, because that is our aim."

From my past understanding, it's not a case of whether there are any workforce present, it is simply the case that when the speed order is set up, it is an enduring 24 hour a day limit until the signage is permanently removed.

yes very true I understand that. you should stay within the speed limits at all times

My point is that the road has no work being done at the point the camera was setup on. the work had been completed on that part.
yes work is still on going at other points along the A52. BUT speed enforcement is in place along long parts that are complete and no work being done.
The speed limit in place could be removed.
As the police have said they will go on enforcing the speed limit on that road, Im sure they will at £100 A TICKET. 200 in 2 day £20.000 nice earner.

just my view.
