It has been revealed that speed cameras are set to varying tolerances that are deterined by the workload of the operating police force area.
Insp Steve Cox, of Wiltshire Police, said that in one area where the limit is 40mph the threshold for prosecution could be 46mph, but in other areas it could be as high as 49mph.
Speaking to a parliamentary committee, Mr Cox gave the example that the Gloucestershire police force's threshold was different to that of Avon and Somerset's.
He commented: "The Association of Chief Police Officers guidelines are always 10% plus 2mph to give people tickets or speed awareness courses. The cameras can be set above this if they wish to and if you look across the country one of the reasons for setting this higher is down to the workload that the threshold of 10% plus two creates. In a 50mph limit this would mean anyone travelling faster than 57mph would be processed."
He added "Not all the back office systems can cope with that volume which is why you'll see some set at 10% plus four or five miles per hour."

Getting too many devices message, I need to change to new devices, I have 3 that need to be usable old ones can be deleted from the database.
The app looks useful, I wonder if it'll be upgraded to a satnav at some point, seems a logical progression for this site.
