A police officer has been fined for parking his camera van on a pavement and over a cycle lane.

It has been reported that mothers with prams had to cross a busy road at rush hour to get past the van.

Following a Freedom of Information request, it has been revealed that the officer received a fixed penalty fine and was given "management advice" by the Gloucestershire police force.

A spokesman for the Gloucestershire Camera Enforcement said: "We do not condone such actions and we hope that the fixed penalty notice and management advice shows that this has been taken seriously. A member of the police workforce is not exempt from following road and parking rules, which is why the individual has been treated as any member of the public would be."

The incident happened in Longlevens, Gloucester in July this year.
