The total of drivers in Kent who were caught speeding was up by a whopping 25% in 2017.

All in all 90,000 speeders were caught by speed cameras last year - that's a substantial 257 fines issued per day.

Kent Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Scott commented: "Road safety is an issue of great concern for the public and, whenever I go to a town meeting, I can guarantee that it's an issue that always comes up. Not just speeding on the motorways but also on their local roads."

He added: "This needs to be addressed to keep people safe on the road but also to disrupt any criminality that is taking place by the use of the Kent road network."
