New average speed cameras are to be installed between Lutterworth and Market Harborough.
The work of installing the point-to-point cameras on the A4303 Market Harborough to Lutterworth road has already been started by Leicestershire County Council.
The cameras are part of a year's trial along key routes in Leicestershire and it has been reported that locals are in favour of the initiative. According to the parish council, people want them as soon as possible.
The cameras, financed by the council andl costing approximately £500,000, are due to be switched on in the summer.
Many drivers are still unsure as to how average cameras work. For those that don't know, they work by using automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) which records the vehicle's number plate at each camera position.
Using the distance between positions, the average speed can be calculated by the time taken to travel between two cameras.
