More speed cameras are coming to Coventry next month.

Average speed cameras will be deployed on two of the city's main thoroughfares - Binley Road and Henley Road. Ansty Road and London Road already have devices in place.

The roads have the highest number of people killed or seriously injured in the overall area in the last 3-year period recorded.

A local highways officer said: "On roads that carry high volumes of traffic traditional traffic calming measures just is not appropriate. So in order to mitigate the trend we installed the London Road and Ansty Road average speed enforcement in January 2019. Although it is early days we have seen a decrease in vehicle speeds and also there have been zero personal injury collisions since it has been operational."

He added: "So with the success in its very early days we are looking at extending average speed enforcement to Binley Road which has had 33 collisions in the last 3-year period, including five serious and three fatalities. Henley Road has experienced 30 personal injury collisions including two fatal and 10 serious injuries. We are hoping average speed enforcement will mitigate that trend."
