Leeds Gets Digital Speed Cameras

Digital speed cameras have been installed in West Yorkshire for the first time.
A stretch of road in Killingbeck, Leeds is now home to the cameras that can monitor traffic in two directions concurrently and wirelessly transfer images of speeding vehicles to a control hub.
Although this type of camera is pricey, the housing unit alone cost £10,000 to supplied and install, operating costs should be reduced considerably in comparison to old analogue technology cameras as there is no film to manually collect, transport and process.
Many more digital cameras are planned for West Yorkshire to replace the old stock over the coming years. 410 speed camera housings are currently in place in the county, but not necessarily in operation.
It looks as if the area is planning well ahead for the future; Simon D'Vali, chair of West Yorkshire Casualty Reduction Partnership, commented: "The new cameras on York Road are the first sites in Leeds district to have been replaced with modern digital cameras. These sites have been at the road side for 13 years, camera housings do not last forever and in the intervening time camera technology has moved on. The West Yorkshire Casualty Reduction Partnership has a rolling programme that, over the course of 20 or 30 years, will see all the county’s cameras moved to digital."

Already been digital (Truvelo-D) in Bradford for about 6 weeks. The same digital cameras have also been installed around Huddersfield too...
Killingbeck ones are the first digital ones in Leeds, but certainly not West Yorks.
They are also being a bit sneaky as they are replacing single-direction Gatsos with these Truvelo-D's that are being set up to monitor both directions at the same time - effectively 'installing' twice as many speed traps.
The slimmer design is also a LOT harder to see on approach - again reinforcing the fact that they're trying to catch people out...

Do you have a source for them being able to monitor both directions at the same time? The information that I can find indicates that they have a choice of front or rear photography but I can't find anywhere that indicates that they can do both at the same time.

However, the ones in Bradford that have replaced Gatsos have had the piezo strips placed on both carriageways (on opposite sides of the marker lines) - so even if they actually can't monitor both sides at the same time they will be highly likely to be changed every-so-often - why else would they go to the extra expense for the extra piezo sensor strips on both sides?
Also, the phrase used isn't exactly clear and could be taken a number of ways: "All systems also deliver a choice of front or rear photography"
- you have a choice of front or rear, i.e. it will work in either direction. OR it could mean that it has to be manually set to front photography so if a car goes the other way it will ignore it and it'd need to be manually set for rear photography etc.

I saw some of these out in the wild in Halifax over the weekend.
At 30mph they are easy enough to spot, I don't know if you could at 50mph though....

Both sets of road strips can be connected at the same time and the camera measures the speed of approaching and receding traffic at the same time.
This is a unique feature if the DCam by Truvelo.
No need to keep popping out to swap connections over.
It is all controlled from the police station.

The dcams on York road killingbeck, when I went by in a taxi don't seem to have cameras inside (yet?) and there are no markings on the road.
There was a large hollow space inside.
While new housings have been popping up, will it still be a case of the authorities rotating the new digital cameras between the new housings?
On the dcam web page, it does suggest these could capture speeders by a laser instead of lines and sensors, could this be why there are no markings? (The killingbeck cams have been up two weeks).
