HGV Drivers Cross Border Confusion
Article by: rob brady Date: 8 Sep 2015
Concerns have been raised at the Berwickshire Area Forum, run by Scottish Borders Council, about heavy goods vehicles drivers not being aware that speed limits differ in Scotland to England and Wales.
Since April this year, speed limits for HGV over 7.5 tonnes were raised from 40mph to 50mph, but only on English and Welsh roads.
Although Scottish roads remain at 40mph, a 50mph trial, monitored by average speed cameras, is taking place on the A9 between Perth and Inverness.
Transport Scotland have discussed the possibility of signs on the border to remind drivers of the speed limit changeover.

I wonder why the 'Wee lassie in the helmet' doesn't unify Scotland's speed limits with the rest of the United Kingdom?

Simple. It's too easy for a politician, you've got to have brains for such things, besides it's easier to do this because it's a simple way to raise revenue from the unsuspecting.
Be alert.. This country needs more lerts. |
