The health and leisure market has huge potential for technology, and Garmin is filling some of the gaps in the sector. Well known for walking and cycling products the latest in the portfolio is a dedicated GPS enabled golf watch. The Garmin Approach S5 features a colour touch screen and CourseView maps.

The CourseView mapping is available for over 38,000 international golf courses featuring "Touch Targeting" and manual pin placement on the greens. The system records your round stats which can then be uploaded to Garmin Connect for further analysis and sharing.

The watch also features Smart Notifications that can receive call, text and email data from compatible smartphones. Oh and I nearly forgot... It can tell the time too!!!

If you are planning to get one for use in competitions, check carefully. Neither the S4 nor theS6 are USGA/PGA compliant and they'd get you disqualified. The recent pda type garmin golf devices are also illegal for competition use.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Nexus 5, Galaxy tab S3. Also use OSMAnd+, Sygic Mobile Maps, and OS maps app. Also "Great Britain Topo Maps" and "Old Maps". Don't use speed camera database as sticking to the limit is safer.
