French Police Officers Illegally Disable Speed Cameras

The Connexion has reported that two French police officers from Lyon face a possible jail sentence after being caught disabling speed cameras in Ain, Rhone-Alpes.

A film crew from French TV channel TF1's motoring magazine Automoto filmed them taping binbags over the cameras last November.

They told the show's presenter that the cameras were only there "just to make money".

It is believed that the two officers were consequently traced by police authorities using mobile phone or police communication signals and now face the possibility of losing their jobs or even prison.

If people don't exceed the speed limit they will not make any money.

If they do lose their jobs, I suspect that there are many people in the UK who would be happy to vote for them as their Police Commissioners!
