A speed camera has been reported stolen, following 3 similar incidences last year, on the A68 in the Scottish Borders area.
The police believe the thefts are linked and it's the work of a protester.
Some fixed camera sites do not have their mechanisms permanently in place - the cameras themselves are usually rotated between housings in different locations to save money, but the thief appears to have been aware that the ones he targeted were fully operational.
He could have just struck "lucky" of course.
He is believed to have simply chain-sawed through the poles and stole the cameras. The police estimate that it would have taken 10 minutes each time.
This time it's Gatso: 1273. As previous posts, the camera has been cut away from the horizontal pole using a disc cutter of some kind as the actual cut looks quite clean.
