A speed camera has been found to be a little too keen in its new job.

A faulty camera has been flagged on the M60 at Barton Bridge, Manchester. It was reported to be repeatedly flashing non-speeding motorists for nearly two days this week.

The camera monitors a stretch of the new smart motorway between junction 8 and junction 15. Coincidentally, the problem started on the day the new smart motorway measures were finally in place.

A Highways England spokeswoman commented, "The camera is currently showing a fault. Contractors are aware and will be attending later today to repair the camera.

She reassured drivers that they would not receive a fine or even a letter in the post.
