More speed cameras are being introduced in what seems like a never-ending series of initiatives across the UK.

This time it's the turn of Wales. Average speed cameras are being rolled out on the notorious "Evo Triangle" - the triangle consists of three linked roads straddling Conwy and Denbighshire.

The roads have become very popular among driving enthusiasts and is named after Evo Magazine which is dedicated to supercar and performance vehicles. The magazine's journalists test cars on the route.

Cameras, at a cost of £500,000, are planned for the A543 section which has the highest collision rate in the area.

Welsh Assembly Member, Darren Millar commented: "This is absolutely fantastic news and something residents and myself have long been calling for. The cameras will be installed along the section of the ‘Evo Triangle’ with the highest collision record and will be completed in the current financial year."

He continued: "Safety along this stretch has deteriorated massively in recent years as a result of the glamorisation of this route to irresponsible motorists. There are YouTube videos that are encouraging people and petrol heads to gather in order to speed around this route and there are gaming companies which are also doing versions of this within their games in order to encourage people to visit."

Four people have died and 20 have been injured there in the past five years.
