Another set of average speed cameras will be operational from today (Wednesday 22nd August).

The point-to-point cameras now monitor a 6.2 mile stretch of road between Barrowford and Gisburn in Lancashire.

This now brings the total of number of routes covered in the county to eight.

Lancashire Road Safety Partnership say they opted for the average speed cameras as driver compliance was known to be high in other parts of the country.

Compliance may be high, but there are still many drivers who appear to fail to understand how the system works or simply daydream between the cameras - many are still being caught out with the 100 fines.
