The notorious Evo Triangle in north Wales still remains speed camera free.

Even though speed cameras were installed six months ago, they have yet to be activated. The authorities say that they are: "waiting for the final cameras to be commissioned" - further work is due to be carried out early next year.

The "Triangle" consists of three linked roads straddling Conwy and Denbighshire.

A joint statement from the two councils involved, North Wales Police and the Welsh road casualty reduction partnership stated: "Enforcement is being supported by mobile units from North Wales Police Roads Policing Unit and GoSafe in order to ensure compliance with the speed limit on this route. We have already had positive feedback from communities that have seen a reduction in speeds."

The roads have become very popular among driving enthusiasts and is named after Evo Magazine which is dedicated to supercar and performance vehicles. The magazine's journalists test cars on the route.

Four people have lost their lives on the Triangle's roads since 2012.

Do we know whether excessive speed was a significant causal factor in any of those deaths?

And do we know how that compares with the fatality rate on similar roads?

Without any context, it's impossible to know whether that's a meaningful statistic or not, but appending it to the story serves to put an implicit link in the reader's mind between the statistic and the story.
