The city of Baltimore in Maryland bought speed cameras for $2.2 million back in 2013, but their investment didn't turn out quite as they may have expected.

The cameras were decommissioned after concerns about their accuracy. This left the city with a lot of hardware to dispose of, including 83 portable cameras.

It solicited bids, but ended up selling a lot of the equipment back to the original vendors, Brekford Corp., for just $32,000.

A spokeswoman for the Baltimore transportation department said there's still more equipment in situ which will be sold off at a later date.
