BMW's first consumer electric car, the i3, has gone on sale in the UK. With a 100 mile battery range, and an optional range-extender variant, it's a bold move and the styling is striking.

BMW have made good use of technology with a pair of digital displays on the dashboard, one dedicated to regular instrument panel duties and the other, a combined infotainment and satnav display.

The satnav has a 'Range Assistant' which shows range based on current battery charge level and will also show charge stations on a planned route. If your battery level starts to drop, the nav will show you the nearest charge stations.

An accompanying smartphone app, BMW i Remote, allows you to remotely access battery data, power consumption, schedule charging, plan journeys, locate charging stations, turn on climate control to pre-heat or cool your car before you set off.

Both Garmin and Apple are set to sue BMW... Garmin for using their 'i3' name and Apple for daring to use a lowercase 'i' :D

There is already an i3 intel chip , and I think Apple is way too far up it's own rectum.
