It has been revealed through a Freedom of Information request that almost 45,000 speeders have been ticketed by fixed speed cameras in North Wales since 2005.
The most 'successful' camera has been revealed to be on the A541 in Pontblyddyn - the site of several fatal accidents.
The blackspot cameras recorded 3,158 speeding motorists in 2016 and, so far in 2017, 2,741. Apparently, the road is popular with holidaymakers from Merseyside.
A spokesperson for the road safety charity Brake commented: "Speed's a factor in almost a quarter of deaths that occur on UK roads. It is important that drivers understand that speed limits exist to save lives."
The road safety partnership GoSafe, said: "How and when cameras are deployed depends on the accident history and road safety problem at each location. So every time you see a safety camera, remember that it is there to help make sure that you and other road users have a safe journey, not to catch motorists out or make money.
They added: "All fine revenue is passed to the Treasury."
