A6 Speed Camera Torched
Article by: rob brady Date: 22 Nov 2013
There has been an arson attack on a speed camera on the central reservation of the A6 Loughborough Road, Loughborough in Leicestershire.
A local fire crew extinguished the flames, but the camera has been put temporarily out of action by the attack.
The static speed camera was installed last year following the tragic deaths of two people along that stetch of road.
It has been reported that 2,462 speeding offences have been registered at the site so far this year.
The local Safety Camera Partnership, commented: "We don't have a major local problem with camera arson, however, when it does occur it presents a danger to not only other road users but also our employees who have to deal with the consequences, including inspecting and retrieving fire damaged equipment."
The camera will be out of action until January.
