Back in 2011, Bristol City's speed and red light cameras were switched off following the government's decision to end Safety Camera Partnership funding.

Just six weeks after two of these speed cameras were reactivated, almost 3000 drivers have been caught speeding. The highest recorded speed during the six weeks in February and March was 73 miles per hour in a 30mph zone.

It was reported that thirty cameras were to be switched back on in the area, but so far only two are operative - one in Worle and the other in Saltford. The Worle camera caught 1,912 speeding drivers and Saltford caught 967.

A spokesman for the Avon and Somerset Police, told the BBC: "It would be misleading to send the message to the public that only these two sites are active. This can and will change on a daily basis."
